Clarissa Shields needs to STOP with the GWOAT nonsense

When we have women like Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano fighting proper opposition in divisions that have actual full time professional boxers in them

The skill gap between the fights Taylor and Serrano have and the mismatches against part time plumbers shields has is astronomical.

I'm sick of the nonsense with shields, her best win was Savannah Marshall who boxes like a boxercise mum.

Women's heavyweight boxing is the equivalent of the men's "super heavyweight" boxing that Butterbean was the champion of. It's a sham.

It's just embarrassing, and is anyone buying it?

    Shields sucks.

There is no doubt that above 154, women's boxing has very poor depth.

But you can acknowledge that fact and still admit that Shields is a fantastic fighter. There aren't that many good fighters above 154, but she has fought and beaten every single one there is.

Her resume is considerably better than Serrano's. Serrano has a few really good wins but mostly she built her career on moving into weight classes with vacant belts and obliterating overmatched opposition, then vacating them without defending them.

Shields vs world title winning opposition:
    W vs Franchon Crews-Dezurn UD 4
W vs Nikki Adler TKO 5
W vs Tori Nelson UD 10
W vs Hanna Gabriels UD 10
W vs Hannah Rankin UD 10
W vs Femke Hermans UD 10
W vs Christina Hammer UD 10
W vs Ivana Habazin UD 10
    W vs Marie-Eve Dicaire UD 10
W vs Ema Kozin UD 10
W vs Savannah Marshall UD 10
    W vs Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse TKO 2

12 of her 16 fights were against ladies that won at least one WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, Ring, or lineal world title. 9 of her 16 fights were against multi-time champions (either unified, multi-weight, or multiple times in one weight class).

Compare that to Serrano vs world title winning opposition:
L vs Frida Wallberg UD 10
W vs Fatuma Zarika UD 6
W vs Fatuma Zarika UD 6
W vs Yazmin Rivas UD 10
W vs Heather Hardy UD 10
W vs Daniela Bermudez KO 9
W vs Yamileth Mercado UD 10
L vs Katie Taylor SD 10
W vs Sarah Mahfoud UD 10
W vs Erika Cruz UD 10
W vs Heather Hardy UD 10
L vs Katie Taylor UD 10

9-3 vs world title winning opposition in 51 pro fights

So Shields has fought the same amount of champions in 16 fights as Serrano has in 51, and Shields won them all while Serrano has 3 losses (even though I thought she got robbed in the second Taylor fight).

Now, if you want to tell me that you think someone like Cecilia Braekhus or Katie Taylor has better wins on her record, I'm not going to argue. But to downplay what Shields has done is ignorant. She has absolutely cleaned out 154 through heavyweight.

Savannah Marshall, Christina Hammer, Hanna Gabriels? If you don't think those are top tier wins you don't watch women's boxing. Period.

Shields has beaten multiple Top 10 P4P fighters.

I'm sure the Marshall rematch will happen eventually, but Shields won the fight easily. There was no need for an immediate rematch.

She won 7 out of 10 rounds on the cards and outlanded Marshall in total punches, power punches, jabs, and body shots. Getting tagged in one round does not mean it was a close fight.

She has two Olympic gold medals and has been world champion in the pros at 154, 160, 168, 175, and heavyweight. What else do you want from her?
