Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia: If Crawford's not next for Vergil Ortiz, Bohachuk deserves a rematch

Vergil Ortiz Jr. is just coming off a hard fight -- easily the hardest fight of his career, given that Ortiz's close win over Serhii Bohachuk was the first time that the junior middleweight contender had gone the distance.

That was a real fight who ever you thought won. Rematch and they should get payed well for entertaining.

Vergil Ortiz done lost 5 yrs of his career from that brutal fight.

let's jump back in again. i applaud Garcia and Ortiz if they take it. they warriors. not business men.

Don’t forget he was also at 140 and 147 and didn’t win a title. I’m not sure how long he can remain at 154

Rematch is a good option. Bohachuk deserves it and we need a conclusive ending. Maybe too soon for Crawford. Other than Turkis money Ortiz does not have a real belt for Crawford to be motivated.

"Crawford early next year" tells me that Robert Garcia really doesn't want to see Vergil get ruined by Bud. He also refused to put little Mikey in with Bud. But he didn't hesitate to put him in with Earl.

I don’t know if that will be wise. Ortiz has been dropped to the canvas twice already by this guy and he was seven pounds heavier at 154. If they meet again Bohachuk just may knock him out the next time.

They were stepping him up very slowly. Obviously Oscar and Co did not believe he could win a title at those weights.

Nevertheless it is weird this is his third weight division without a title shot. It is not like he was fighting in obscurity. He has been threatening to do big things for a long time.

Id rather see different fights in the mix with Tim, TC, Vergil, Bohachuk, Madrimov, yeah it was a top fight but Id rather see them fight the others than a rematch.
