Swedish heavyweight Pezhman Seifkhani, 18-1 (12 KOs), is now the official challenger for the EBU heavyweight title, currently held by German Labinot Xhoxhaj, 21-0-1 (16 KOs).
According to the EBU the parties are in private negotiations and there is no date set for purse bids.
Xhoxhaj beat the mandatory challenger Mourad Aliev last time out but it’s likely he is looking for bigger paydays elsewhere. For now, he is still the EBU champion.
Seifkhani was rated No.4 by the EBU after winning the Silver title with a decision over Italian champion Eduardo Giustini, 17-4 (6 KOs) and that title is now declared vacant.
Official challenger for that belt is still Dane Kem Ljungquist, 19-1 (12 KOs), who will now take on the highest available challenger from the EBU ratings, where there are currently 39 fighters ranked.
