Israel Mercado edged Philadelphia's Branden Pizarro on Friday in Pizarro's hometown 2300 Arena in a 10-round majority decision.
In only three of the 10 rounds were Pizarro and Mercado separated by four or more landed punches. Pizarro landed 31 more jabs than Mercado, while Mercado held a 40-punch edge in power punches landed. One judge scored the fight a 95-95 draw, while the other judges scored it 97-93 and 96-94, both for Mercado.
