Falling apart?

It had to have been whole at one point in order to fall apart.

This country came from terrorizing, wiping out Native Americans and taking their land, enslaving African Americans, counting black people as half a human, having a civil war over freeing ****** or keeping them ******, having white and black schools, segregated water fountains, making black people sit in back of the bus.

The US was apart to begin with. It's actually now just still getting fixed. The late 1800s were the crawling stages, the 1960s were the baby steps. The 2000s is now teaching the baby to stop making a mess around the house.

Why is there this insistence that we all have to try to get along when as you point out, it's been hundreds of years and it still isn't working? Why is there this insistence that we all have to live together?

No doubt. Hopefully this is one of those big growth spurts that leaves stretch marks of change. And some of the ignorance around today will be a page in a history book on fooked up forgotten bs one day.

Well, I mean, it is a derogatory remark, based on race. And Webster's says...

Racism is the belief that groups of humans possess different behavioral traits corresponding to physical appearance and can be divided based on the superiority of one race over another.

Sounds like it fits the definition. Since every "Karen" must be white by definition.

Just wanted to say I love the way you put things. Very succinct and accurate, IMO.

We're growing. You can't have this many types of diverse people, with diverse backgrounds coalescing together, attempting to become one people without butting heads.

Unfortunately, the process of forming a national identity takes years....and, given how we began, probably centuries for us. We...those of us alive now.....will probably never see it; but I have faith we'll get there.

The dream is too big to not believe.

The US hasn't gotten over the civil war but people are expected to get over being sold as ******.
