Its a win / win - more money and a much safer country.

I say declare all out war on the cartels. Treat them as public enemy #1 since the garbage drugs that they peddle end up in the US...

I'm perfectly fine with people who choose to use drugs, its the violence and misery that comes hand in hand with the supply that I don't need.
Excellent point. Traditionally if you look at any country with lenient drug laws what destroys them is people flocking from areas with Draconian drug policies. Its one of those things about the Northern European mentality regarding social policy: I hate when they want to decide when people are "Old" and should 'hurry up and die', I love when they are pragmatic about drug use.

Read about the French connection. Heroine is a timeless drug, it has unlimited natural supply (Opium Poppies grow like weeds) and is priced based on risk associated with refinement and distribution. These other fly by night drugs come and go. They can be controlled a lot because they can be spotted a mile away. My point is control the drugs that are "blue chip"...Alcohol, nicotine, Weed, ******* and Heroine, and the rest will be relatively easy to control. Best way to control is to legalize and sin tax.

It has been said by many whistle blowers, time and time again, that there are three ways, and one process by which the powers that control the system operate:

              Running drugs, children, and weapons.

Taking that cash and laundering it.

This happens from the very top of the pyrmid no doubt...BUT what most fail to realize, and this is regarding "involvement," it also comes from the very bottom of the grunge.

Years ago, My wife and I broke down on I-10 before Baton Rouge, in an area known as 'whiskey bay.' The Tow guy told us we were in great danger and naturally I thought he meant because there was no shoulder to the road. He then shows me a larg calibre weapon he had, and his truck is full of bullet markings. He points out a shot up ranger station as we exit the highway.

I was informed that the drug runners come through the area en masse and shoot it out with the feds nightly. They are running drugs up to the Clinton area of Little Rock. Little Rock where S&L associations were created to clean the drug money and put it in shelters. Nobody had any idea that these shoot outs were happening and that the drug guys often held the advantage. Tow truck guy said people hanging around get picked off... And the ranger station looked like Swiss Cheese.

It's profitable enough to keep people joining to keep bribing and keep buying more firepower… i mean it's not like gangsters haven't been dying already throughout all these years you're not introducing anything changing. Either people stop consuming or drugs become legal there's no other way to plug the source that causes all the problems. Besides those troops can't stay forever so whatever improvement you feel that you made, even if you did, there is no way to sustain it.
