Yeah and that was payback for broner's nonsense.
I love a Larry Merchant quote from that after that fight:
“Adrien Broner was supposed to become the next Floyd Mayweather, and instead he became the next Andre Berto.”
Damn, Larry. Take it easy on him. Lol

Lmao. Norman is 23 and won his belt against a tough Santillan, he didn't get it in the mail. That is miles ahead of anything Ennis has done......beating up Bud's leftover Ava years after Bud KO'd him means zilch.
Norman poses a threat, him not being a big name has zero to do with it. That is the point I was making, Norman is an actual threat being young, strong, skilled and he beat a good fighter. Ennis is looking for less challenge easy win, he always has.
Maybe they will fight, and maybe Ennis beats him. I like Ennis, but I'm not a blatant kiss ass for him, he has done zero at 28. His team obviously is guiding him with kid gloves. I hope they do fight.
It’s the little things that matter
Boots is 27
If you are unhappy with Boots fighting Bud’s left over then you must be equally unhappy with Virgil Ortiz fighting Thomas Dulorme who was destroyed by Boots over three years ago.
A tough Santillan? Ok. Who exactly is Santillan?
If Boots was to unify by beating Barrios, would that be better than winning a belt by email?

Boots got Crawford's gifted belt and now Crawford gifts another belt to Norman- Boots vs Norman, make it happen

These fighters today follow a strict bull**** fight pattern - they win a belt somehow and wont fight the real competition, but get by on these mediocre fights- no real challenges these days and that only makes us move away from boxing

Ortiz wants all the smoke as evidenced by been able to line up Stanionis, Tsyzu and Bohachuk in 20 fights by the way. Boots is 32 fights in and yet to fight a live body. Stanionis is looking for a fight but I doubt Boots will fight him. He ll probably go on to fight a nobody and go back to calling out Crawford. Am no longer fooled and I get it is a business too but at least stand on that part instead of the illusion

When Rocha was beat by Santillan. A lot of posters then said its because Rocha sucks. I said I still consider him a ****er.
So I guess it's not a surprise if, since Santillian was beat by Norman, people say the same thing about Santillian. I say he gets my respect, because of how he demolished Rocha.
Norman is a good fighter. But that doesn't make Santillian nobody all of a sudden. A lot of guys still wouldn't stand up to Santillian.Oregonian likes this.

That being said, Santillan is game, but he's also very limited. He drops both hands when he lets his hands go, and tends to swing wildly. He also keeps his head in the center slot unless he's actively trying to move his head. And he follows the same rhythm, never breaking beat. That makes him predictable, and with the aforementioned flaws, makes him easy to counter. From a technical standpoint, he doesn't have the skills to hang at the top level, let alone be elite. I don't think he will EVER get his hands on a world title, short of some Rolly Romero being gifted a title shot and title shenanigans, and he's not connected in that way.
Rocha's flaws were on full display as well. He's far too hittable for someone with his low activity level, and he surrenders the initiative too easily for someone with his style. He also keeps his head in the same slot, and his guard is static, making it easy to come around the guard. Santillan loves to hook, so he had a great style to pressure Rocha. Remember, Rocha was getting hyped because DAZN was trying to build him into a star. I can respect them both as good fighters, but we don't need to pretend that they're elite.

I agree with you 100%
I tend to throw out the same “logic” these toxic haters use. I don’t dismiss any fighter. If you are able to make it to fight for a belt, you are an incredible athlete. Coming up short does not mean squat.
