He was never the #1 guy in his division, he was never the lineal champion or anywhere close to it, he was never a P4P fighter, he was basically a contender who held a paper belt.

You list Garcia and Ugas, I thought he lost to both, especially Ugas.

His biggest fights, Thurman, Brook, Spence and Crawford, he lost.

How many top 5 ranked fighters did he beat? I think it’s zero. If it’s not it’s not many.

If that’s the career of a great then that’s nothing short of sad.
Zero chance? Lmfao....damn near anyone can get into the IBHOF now. He'll easily get in considering....

      Yeah, zero.

And if someone like Shawn Porter is a HOF calibre fighter, we may aswell just close the whole thing like they did with the original WBHOF.

Shawn Porter is the American version of Derek Chisora 'The only difference is? He was in my opinion, given more opportunities due to being a American based fighter at the time during his career'.

I think Shawn Porter had a great career, just like Derek Chisora 'Porter left it all inside the ring, and most likely overachieved in his career'.

Stylistically Shawn Porter had the attributes, determination and fundamental skills to push top level fighters 'But he never really had the dimension's to his game, which allowed him to win at top level consistently'.

Note: To beat Shawn Porter was always a difficult task, unless? Stylistically he was straight up your street 'Terrence Crawford was one of the very few fighters in recent years, who I believe had the ability to beat Porter quite easily. Floyd Mayweather Junior would of been another fighter, who also had that specific ability and antidote for Porter's style'.

To conclude: Shawn Porter is the American version of Derek Chisora 'Both fighters were difficult fighters to beat, unless stylistically they were straight up a fighters street. Shawn Porter had the attribute's, determination and fundamental skills to push top level fighters, but he never really had the dimension's to his game which would enable him to win at top level consistently'.

You could watch a Shawn Porter fight, and know by round 3-4 that 'He most likely not going to win the fight, but? He is still going to push the opponent and make it a very difficult fight'.

That was a specific trait of the action in Shawn Porter's fights 'Derek Chisora in the Heavyweight Divisions, his fights and the action produced also many times shared this specific trait'.

This is because fighters like Porter and Chisora, have a instinctive rhythm 'Almost in every single boxing era in the history of the sport, there have been fighters like Shawn Porter and Derek Chisora. They have just been fighting under different persona's'.

It is like the nature of boxing itself, knows that it has to create fighters like them 'Because they are fundamentally a significant part of the game'. Fighters that will take on most opportunities that come their way, fighters like say they are going to bring violence and do just that, and fighters that are always difficult to beat because they leave it all in the ring'.

If you was creating a computer fighting game 'Fighters like Shawn Porter, would not be one of the main bosses. I would not even rate Poter as one of the main characters. Shawn Porter would be one of fighters, that you had to beat if? You was going to be a Champion, or complete the game. Fighters like Shawn Porter are like the litmus test for the first genuine stage of greatness. All the greatest fighters of his era, have all had to fight Porter and beat him'.

Shawn Porter had a great career, he was a great fighter 'And a very significant fighter in his era. Fighters like Shawn Porter are a insiders fighter'.

Nobody that witnessed Shawn Porter fight, could question his courage, determination and effort 'People instinctually respect fighters like Chisora and Porter, because they are that style of fighter and character that has always been present in the game throughout history'.

Note: I did not vote on the poll etc.

I would say good. Was always competitive at the top level. Crawford was the only to give him a bit of a beating and he was competitive in that fight early, Bud just has a tremendous ability to adapt.

porter was good but never the best.

if he was in todays welterweight he would probably be champ.

he is similar stylistically to chisora but i think a bit better. chisora would make them work but usually his fights with the top were not that close, his fight with usyk was pretty close he used his size and fought the right style fight against usyk.

porter his fights with brook, spence and thurman were all pretty close fights the other guys just edged out on points. not like chisora getting dominated by haye and vitali.

I think porter would be champ in a weak era like today. I think he would beat boots. I think he is better than tim bradley who top rank really wanted to hype as the next big champ in that era.

He gets extra points for being a good and humble guy.

When have you ever seen him with silly and excessive gold chains around his head? Never.

Good fighter, highly competitive and tough to beat but what whatever reason just lacked the X factor to climb into the elite rankings.

I'd say he fell just shy of greatness. He also had a dirty head-first style that probably should have cost him a fight or two. But he was tough, had great stamina, and always came to fight. He fought bravely against Spence and Crawford. Left it all in the ring.
